What is Spiritual Direction?
Spiritual Direction is a church practice that goes back centuries and offers a way to listen and hear from God in the context of community and relationship. A Spiritual Director is someone who is trained to listen and help you discern how to recognize and respond to the work God is doing in your life. Spiritual Directors come with various training and competencies, and the goal is to help you deeply listen to what God is saying about your life, noticing the movement and invitation of the Spirit each step of the way.
What are your credentials?
I have a MA in Spiritual Formation through Portland Seminary, and a MA in Human Services Counseling from Regent Unviersity. I’ve also completed the Academy of Spiritual Formation through Soul Formation and am trained in Inner Healing Prayer through the Companioning Center.
What is your approach to Spiritual Direction?
I offer a trauma-informed, Christocentric approach to Spiritual Direction. I hold to a trinitarian theology that is biblically grounded. My style is client-centered, Holy Spirit-led, and contemplative in nature.
What does a Spiritual Direction Session look like?
Currently, all sessions are offered virtually. Once your appointment time is determined, I will email you a link to join me on a zoom call at our agreed time. Sessions last for one hour and it’s typical to meet monthly, although I am happy to meet more frequently if that is your preference.
Once we are together, I often start our time with a few minutes of silence, giving your soul a moment to pay attention to what needs to be explored. I’ll then start us off in prayer, and we’ll explore what God is doing in your life. Sessions can explore areas of doubt, fear, rejection, joy, curiosity, vocation, calling, and nearly everything in between. Because God is in all things, all things can be discussed in Spiritual Direction, but I am happy to refer you to a counselor if working with a therapist would also beneift you.
How much are sessions?
Sessions are $75 and last for one hour.
